Dining in Fargo and Much More

We are so blessed that we are finding such friendly people to talk to along our way. The people we have met are happy to talk about where they live and share a piece of their lives with us. Fargo is no exception. We happened Up on Doolittle's. Our waitress Sherri was wonderful. We learned so much from her.
Everything is prepared from scratch and it is good. All their meats are on wood fire. She gave us a sampling of their homemade soups, butternut squash and cream of chicken and rice. They were to die for. I had grilled walleye and it was so fresh and tasty. Russ had rotisserie pork sandwich with mango chutney.  Art, the manager brought us a delicious dessert that we think was carrot cake or a spice cake. Definitely had the flavors of the season and melted in your mouth. A big thanks to Art for dessert on the house!
In addition to great service, Sherri shared with us things about North Dakota. She said the winters used to be bad but the last few have not. It's 73 degrees today!!  She said latest trend in this state is drilling for oil. She said as we travel west we will see the man camps of workers. She continued to say that the quality of life out there is not good and many of the workers bring their families to Fargo to live and raise their kids while they work in the oil fields. She mentioned that there was a tornado that blew through recently that wiped out many workers. We are starting to see the oil trains now as I write. She said many college graduates go to work there because the pay is hood and they get th wet or student loans paid off.
She said once we reach the bad lands, the country side near Little Missouri national grassland is beautiful!! A big thanks to Sherri for her wonderful hospitality!!!!
